There has been a great deal of conversation about "Going Green" lately. The truth is that the auto body refinish industry has been doing just that for years. Shops have invested in HVLP technology, spray booths, gun washers, solvent recyclers, etc.
There is now a way to be recognized for your efforts!
Pro Finishes PLUS has partnered with the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Design for the Environment (DfE) to recognize shops that have implemented the DfE's list of "Best Practices".
The process towards recognition involves a shop audit, designed by the EPA, which focuses on the following five categories:
· Surface Preparation Activities
· Paint Mixing
· Spray Painting
· Spray Gun Cleaning
· Health and Safety Management
The audit is not a regulatory compliance tool, however, some of the "Best Practices" included may be mandated by EPA and OSHA standards.
Shops that demonstrate the required level of commitment to protect workers and minimize the environmental impact on surrounding communities will be awarded a Certificate of Recognition from the EPA.
Currently, Pro Finishes PLUS is the only company in the country offering this program.
